Halton Named to Year-End All-Star Team

October 11, 2017 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Lancaster Stormers News Release

Sean Halton, the Atlantic League home run and RBI king in 2017, has been named to the circuit's year-end All-Star Team, it was announced today by league president Rick White.

Halton, who played first base and third base as well as the corner positions in the outfield, was named as one of the three top outfielders in the league based on year-end polling, with each ballclub casting one ballot.

The former Milwaukee Brewer belted 26 home runs, edging out Southern Maryland's Michael Snyder by one with a long ball in Lancaster's final game of the season. He topped the RBI column by six over Long Island outfielder Marc Krauss.

Halton, named the Barnstormers' Player of the Year in fan voting, also led the league in total bases (256), extra base hits (63), sacrifice flies (12, a franchise record) as well at number of times hit by a pitch (12). He also tied a franchise record with three grand slams, all hit on the road. The Monterrey, CA resident started the last 105 games of the year in the Lancaster lineup and played eight different positions in the last game of the year.

He also homered for the Freedom Division in the Atlantic League All-Star Game, held in Somerset in July.

"We are, of course, very happy for Sean" said manager Ross Peeples. "He is very deserving of this award. He had a great year for us. (Sean) is just an all-around professional who comes to the yard and compete every day."

"It feels good to be voted (onto this team)," said Halton. "I would like to thank everyone that voted for me as well as Ross Peeples for giving me the opportunity to play every day."

In just under two full seasons in Lancaster, Halton has recorded 118 extra base hits, including 48 home runs, and has knocked in 161 runs in 241 total games.

He appeared in 42 games for Milwaukee in 2013, batting .238 with four home runs.
