Three M-Braves Named Southern League All-Stars

Pearl, MS - The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce that three M-Braves have been voted into the Southern League All-Star game that will take place at Carolina's Five-County Stadium on July 14th.

M-Braves outfielder Matt Young, starting pitcher Todd Redmond and closer Luis Valdez have been voted onto the South Division's squad.

Young has hit .281 with a home run, 27 RBI, and 45 RBI through 81 games for the M-Braves. Young set the Braves' team high in 2008 with a 14-game hitting streak in late April and early May.

Redmond has led the M-Braves with seven wins on the year and he was the first Braves' pitcher this year to win three consecutive games. In all, he's 7-3 with a 3.58 ERA. He's fanned 80 batters while issuing only 17 walks this year.

Valdez is 1-1 with a 2.68 EAR from the closer's role. He's recorded 12 saves and he went 24 innings without giving up an earned run from 4/18-6/22 (27.1 consecutive innings).
