Portland Lumberjax News Release

The National Lacrosse League has announced the lineups for its 2006 All-Star Game, which will be played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday, February 25th at 4p Eastern. The game will air live locally on CNW TV14 at 1p (PST). Dallas Eliuk will compete in his 6th All-Star game, which includes every NLL All-Star Game ever played. Brodie Merrill was named a defensive starter for the West Division, and is the only rookie on either division's starting lineups. Ryan Sharp will also be representing the Portland LumberJax as a reserve player.

Merrill has already received defensive player of the week twice by the NLL and racked up 58 loose balls this season and ten points (three goals, seven assists). The defenseman was the #1 pick in the 2005 NLL draft. Eliuk went to his first All-Star Game during his rookie season in 1991. This season he has recorded 162 saves for a 77.5% save percentage. Ryan Sharp will make his first All-Star Game appearance in his second year in the NLL, and has picked up 45 loose balls this season.

The East and West Division teams will each have twelve reserves, combined with the six starters that were previously announced, for a total of 18 players on each All-Star Team. East All-Stars head coach Ed Comeau (Rochester) and assistant coach Lindsay Sanderson (Philadelphia), and West All-Stars head coach Bob Hamley (Arizona) and assistant coach Chris Hall (Calgary) selected the first nine reserves for their respective divisions. The final three reserves for each division were appointed by the league.
