Three Hounds Earn Weekly USL Honors

PITTSBURGH - Two Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC players were selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week, and a third received bench honors in the league awards announced this afternoon.
Forward Dane Kelly and defender Shane Wiedt both were picked to the league's best 11 for the opening week of the season after the Hounds' 3-0 win at Memphis 901 FC. Goalkeeper Chase Vosvick, making his first professional start, earned his first league honor with the spot on the Team of the Week bench.
Kelly, who earlier was named USL Championship Player of the Week, had a goal and an assist in the win, and his opening strike was the 100th goal of his USL Championship career.
Wiedt earned his first Team of the Week honor as a member of the Hounds with a strong performance to kick off his second season with the team. The center back recorded a team-high 11 interceptions and won the ball in 8 of 10 duels to help the Hounds get the season started with a shutout. He also had four clearances and a team-high 79 touches on the ball in the match.
It is only the third time in the past two seasons a Hounds defender has made the Team of the Week, after Dani Rovira and Jelani Peters each earned the honor once in 2021.
Vosvick, who was playing his first game since finishing his college career at Loyola (Md.), had a memorable pro debut with five saves, including a penalty kick save in the 30th minute, to record his first career clean sheet.
The Hounds next take the field for their home opener this Saturday, March 19, when they will host Hartford Athletic at 7 p.m. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster or by calling the Highmark Stadium Box Office at 412-865-GOAL (4625).
