Three Homers Power Renegades to 5-4 Win Over the BlueClaws on Thursday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Hudson Valley hit three home runs and topped the BlueClaws 5-4 on Thursday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The BlueClaws (5-7/40-37) have dropped four straight games including the first three of this series to the Renegades (6-6/45-33).

Gunner Mayer started for the BlueClaws and escaped a bases loaded jam in the first. Hudson Valley tot on the board in the second on an RBI single from Ben Cowles.

The BlueClaws took the lead in the bottom of the first off Joel Valdez. Leandro Pineda and Erick Brito each drove in runs with RBI groundouts to put the BlueClaws up 2-1.

Mayer came out after two innings and allowed one run. Tristan Garnett threw a 1-2-3 fifth inning. But Hudson Valley re-claimed the lead off Wesley Moore. Grant Richardson homered in the fourth for his seventh of the year and Rafael Flores hit his second of the year in the fifth for a 3-2 Renegades lead.

They added two more runs in the eighth inning. Marcos Cabrera took Jordi Martinez deep. It was his fifth of the season and second of the series. Ben Cowles then added an RBI double to push the Renegades lead to 5-2.

Rixon Wingrove homered in the ninth inning to cut the lead to 5-4 but Indigo Diaz got the last three outs to seal the win and earn his first save. Wingrove now has 12 home runs on the season, most on the BlueClaws, and 24 career homers as a BlueClaw.

The teams continue their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm.
