
Three Goal Third Guide Storm To Win, 5-3

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Tri-City Storm 9 pts) scored three goals in the third period Friday night to defeat the Youngstown Phantoms 5 pts), 5-3. The Storm was led by Brett Mohlers two goals and assist and Jaden Schwartzs three assist.
Mohler scored his first goal of the season at the 14:02 mark of the first period on the power play. Schwartz and Maxwell Tardy picked up the assists. When the Storm scores the first goal of the game, their record is 4-0-0 on the season.
However, the Phantoms would score back-to-back goals in the opening period to jump out to a 2-1 lead at the first intermission. Luke Eibler and Richard Young scored their first goals of the season for the Phantoms.
In the second period, the Storm was able to tie the game at 2-2, as Tardy scored on the power play 12:29 into the period. Mohler and Schwartz were credited with the assists that gave the top power play unit their second goal of the game.
With under a minute to play in the second period, Eibler scored his second power play goal for the Phantoms to again give Youngstown the lead at the second intermission, 3-2.
Nevertheless, the Storms Radoslav Illo scored the third power play goal for Tri-City 6:32 into the third period to even the score at 3-3. Nate Jensen and Blake Coleman received the assists on the goal. Coleman has six assists on the season and five of them on the power play.
Cody Murphy scored the game-winning goal 9:08 into the final period as Tyler Pistone and Rick Pinkston setup Murphy on a rebound shot. Mohler added an empty-net to seal the win with 47 seconds left in regulation.
The Storm on the power play was 3-8, while Youngstown was 2-6 with the man-advantage.
Storm goalie Carsen Chubak made 16 saves on 19 shots earning his fourth win of the season. Jordan Tibbett made 22 saves on 26 shots receiving the loss.
The Storm will stay in Youngstown, Ohio to play the Phantoms again Saturday night in the Covelli Centre at 7:15pm Central Time).
