Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
J.T. Brown set the Waterloo Black Hawks off on a quick start Saturday, ending a four-game losing streak by defeating the Fargo Force at Young Arena.
Just 39 seconds into the game, Brown swiped a clearing attempt, fired it into the net off the crossbar, and, in the process, split the puck into two pieces. It might have been an omen. Less than three minutes later, Brown scored again into an open side. Fargo rallied with two quick goals of their own from Corey Leivermann and Matt Leitner, sending the game to intermission in a 2-2 tie.
In the second, Brown set up Patrick Divjak during a power play to retake the lead at 3:01. Tyler Barnes scored 2:06 later. From there, Fargo went to work, but so did Black Hawk goalie C.J. Motte. The first-year Hawk turned away all 19 shots on goal during the frame. For the game, he would end up with 39 saves.
Divjak, Brock Montpetit, and Soren Jonzzon added tallies in the third, while Johnnie Searfoss was able to put a puck in for the Force.
The Hawks hit the road for their next two games, visiting the Indiana Ice Friday and Saturday. The next Hawks home game is Saturday, November 7th against the Lincoln Stars.
