Charlottetown Islanders News Release

One more win. That's all the Charlottetown Islanders need to push themselves to the top of the franchise's record books.

With a victory tonight over the Cape Breton Eagles, the Islanders will match a franchise-high ten-game winning streak originally set by the 2003-2004 PEI Rocket. For context, current Islander Sam Oliver was yet to be born when this mark was set while Ben Boyd was but three months old.

The Islanders (24-4-0-0) will also look to become the first team this season to reach the 25-win plateau. While the team has been red-hot as of late, they're also in the midst of a brutal four game in five night stretch with two sets of back-to-back games. The team will work diligently to avoid sluggishness and get that record-setting victory in front of the home town crowd.

Thomas Casey took over the league lead in points in Sunday's win over the Halifax Mooseheads, posting three points to usurp teammate Cedric Desruisseaux atop the league's standings. Casey picked up three assists in the win, including a helper on Desruisseaux's game winner in the final two minutes of play.

The Eagles (11-17-1-0) are looking for a measure of revenge after a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Islanders on Saturday night. The Eagles are sputtering, now losers of five in a row. They had jumped out to an early lead on Saturday night, but a flurry of goals in the third period pushed the Isles to victory over Cape Breton.

Despite the losses, one player who has emerged as an offensive leader is Emile Hegary-Aubin. The 20-year-old forward, who joined the Eagles via trade with the Gatineau Olympiques this past summer, picked up that first goal of the game on Saturday. Hegarty-Aubin is now riding a seven-game point streak with 11 points in that span.
