PORTLAND, Ore. - Playing their third match in nine days, Portland Thorns FC dropped a 2-0 result to the Houston Dash at Providence Park on Saturday afternoon. Thorns FC will travel for their first road match of the season to face the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, May 28, at SeatGeek Stadium.
Goal-Scoring Plays
HOU - Rachel Daly (Nichelle Prince), 45+3 minute: From the center of the half, Nichelle Prince threaded a pass into the left side of the box for Rachel Daly, who collected the ball and cut it onto her right, slotting a right-footed shot into the lower left corner of the goal.
HOU - Sophie Schmidt (Haley Hanson), 66th minute: Haley Hanson combined for a give-and-go with Sophie Schmidt just outside of the 18-yard box, getting Schmidt into position to fire a close range shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
Notes:
Thorns FC are 13-4-3 against the Dash in regular season play and 7-3-0 when playing at home.
Today's loss snapped Portland's seven-game unbeaten streak in regular season play, dating back to 2021.
Thorns FC were the last NWSL team to drop a result in the 2022 campaign.
Taylor Porter made her season debut as a halftime substitute.
Madison Pogarch and Yazmeen Ryan each earned their first starts of the 2022 regular season.
