PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC earned a 1-0 shutout victory over KC NWSL on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park. Simone Charley provided the game-winner in first-half stoppage time to help Portland secure its third consecutive shutout victory. Adrianna Franch finished the match with five saves, recording her fourth shutout of the campaign.
Clean Sheet Streak
Portland earned its third consecutive clean sheet in today's match, registering its fourth shutout in six regular-season matches in 2021. Notably, Thorns FC have not allowed a goal in 314 minutes of play. With today's shutout, it marked the first time in club history the team has recorded three consecutive shutout wins. In addition, Thorns FC recorded three consecutive shutouts for the first time since Sept. 2017.
Thorns FC Attack
Through six matches, Thorns FC lead the NWSL with 12 goals, outscoring their opponents 10-2 in matches at Providence Park. Portland also leads the league in shots (104) and shots on goal (53). Individually, Lindsey Horan has tallied a league-leading 22 shots, while Sophia Smith leads the NWSL in shots on goal (11). Eight different players have scored a goal for Portland this season, and the team has registered at least 20 shots in each of the six matches of the 2021 campaign.
Goal-Scoring Plays
POR - Simone Charley (Crystal Dunn), 45+5 minute: Dunn received the ball in her defensive half of the field, and on the turn sent a long-range pass into space for Charley, running in behind Kansas City's backline. Catching goalkeeper Abby Smith outside of the box, Charley took one touch around her and passed the ball across the goal line.

Dunn recorded her first career assist with Portland.
Franch recorded her fifth shutout across all competitions in 2021.
