Orlando Pride News Release
Shot Stoppers
An Orlando Pride goalkeeper has won the Save of the Week three out of four weeks this season. Ashlyn Harris was awarded Save of the Week in the first week of the campaign for her heroics against the Washington Spirit. The following week, Canadian international Erin McLeod came in for the Pride on the road at North Carolina to earn the same honor in her first NWSL match since 2015. Most recently, Harris secured her second Save of the Week against the Spirit yet again following the Pride's 1-1 draw at Audi Field on June 6.
On the Board
Taylor Kornieck scored her first goal in NWSL regular-season play in the Pride's last outing at Washington, good for her second across all competitions this year. Kornieck has now had a hand in three of the Pride's last five goals of the regular season and has contributed to four across all competitions, with two goals and two assists, including the Pride's first goal in 2021 on April 10 at Racing Louisville.
GOAT Contributions
Marta recorded her first assist of the campaign at Audi Field, picking off an outlet throw from Aubrey Bledsoe before sending the ball to Taylor Kornieck for the eventual game-tying finish. The six-time FIFA Player of the Year leads the Pride all-time in assists, with 11 to her credit since joining the side ahead of the 2017 NWSL campaign.
Unbeaten Run
The Pride have extended their Club-record unbeaten run to start an NWSL campaign now to five matches after drawing with Washington on June 6. The streak contains a pair of draws against Washington, along with victories over the North Carolina Courage, Portland Thorns FC and Kansas City. Orlando sits atop the league as the lone unbeaten side left on the year with 11 points through five fixtures.
Pride in Our City
Sunday's match will serve as the Club's Mission Rainbow match as part of the Pride's recently announced mission program, with the fixture presented by the National Pulse Memorial & Museum in tribute to the victims and survivors of the June 12, 2016 tragedy. The Pride will wear rainbow numbers on their kits which will be later auctioned off to raise money for the Mission Fund, with the Mission Rainbow patch available to purchase for the first time.
Against Gotham
The Pride hold a 5-3-3 record against Gotham FC in regular-season action throughout Club history with a 3-1-1 record in The City Beautiful. The Pride last faced off in regular season play against Sunday's opposition at home on July 20, 2019, with Marisa Viggiano scoring her first NWSL goal for the eventual game-winner in that match.
For Club & Country
Several members of the Pride earned minutes with their respective national teams over the break. Konya Plummer featured twice for the Reggae Girlz in that span, captaining the side on June 13 against the U.S. WNT and Pride teammate Alex Morgan and featuring on June 10 in a 1-0 victory over Nigeria. Morgan found the back of the net for the U.S. in that matchup on the 13th, her 110th for the U.S. WNT. Marta started twice for the Brazilian National Team in matches against Russia and Canada, the former a 3-0 victory and the latter a scoreless draw, while "Gunny" Jónsdóttir captained the Icelandic National Team, earning her 80th international cap and netting a finish in Iceland's 3-2 victory over Ireland on June 11. Erin McLeod joined Canada for the break, but did not appear.
