Thorns FC Announce Sellout for August 30 Match against Washington Spirit

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC announced today that the team's final regular-season home match of the 2015 season against the Washington Spirit on Sunday, Aug. 30, is sold out; kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (Pacific) with a national television broadcast on FOX Sports 1.

The match against the Spirit marks the second sellout this season; Thorns FC played in front of 21,144 fans, the club's first sellout, on July 22 against Cascadia-rival Seattle Reign FC. The best-attended women's soccer club in the world, Portland has led the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in attendance since the inaugural season in 2013 with average attendance numbers of better than 13,000 in the team's first two seasons. In 2015, Thorns FC have boosted their attendance with an average of 15,027 fans through the team's first nine home games.

Additionally, Providence Park, home of Thorns FC, will serve as the host site for the 2015 NWSL Championship. The championship match will take place on Thursday, Oct. 1; kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (Pacific) with a national television broadcast on FOX Sports 1.

Tickets for the NWSL Championship match go on sale to the public on Friday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. (Pacific). Fans will be able to purchase tickets by calling (888) 736-6849 or online at www.portlandthornsfc.com. In addition, fans are also able to purchase tickets at the Providence Park box office. The Providence Park box office is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT. Thorns FC season ticket holders will have access to an exclusive presale beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26. Tickets will be held for fans of both participating teams and will be made available in a special sales window once the teams are set.
