Portland Thorns FC News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) today announced the full national broadcast schedule for the 2023 season. For a third consecutive season, the club's primary local broadcast partner, FOX 12 PLUS, will be the home of the Thorns and air eight matches, including pregame and postgame shows.
In a rematch of the 2022 NWSL Championship, Portland and Kansas City will square off April 1 at Children's Mercy Park on CBS; kickoff is set for 9:50 a.m. (Pacific). Thorns FC will also have four games broadcast on CBS Sports Network, including home matches against the Houston Dash (April 14) and Kansas City (July 1). Portland's first trip to take on Cascadia rival OL Reign on June 3 will also feature on CBSN as well as their road game against Orlando on June 11.
Thorns FC will kick off their slate of games on local television with their home opener against the Pride at Providence Park on March 26; kickoff is set for 2 p.m. (Pacific). The pregame show will begin 30 minutes prior to the kickoff of each match and the postgame show will include live player and head coach interviews, highlights and analysis from the studio. Nick Krupke will host the pregame and postgame shows alongside the combination of Laura Schott and former Thorns FC defender Kat Tarr as they will take turns in the analyst chair throughout the season.
Six home matches and two road matches will air locally on FOX 12 PLUS and all of those matches will continue to be streamed on Paramount+. Thorns FC will conclude the regular season with their last three home matches all on local television - OL Reign, San Diego Wave FC and NJ/NY Gotham FC. Portland's road match on June 18 at Chicago and Sept. 2 away to Racing Louisville FC will both be broadcast on FOX 12 PLUS.
As part of its exclusive coverage this season, Paramount+ will stream all six matches on the final day of the regular season as part of the league's first-ever Decision Day. CBS Sports' multiplatform coverage, presented by CarMax, will include all 176 NWSL matches this season. The CBS Television Network will air six matches, including both the broadcast of the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup Final and the 2023 Ally NWSL Championship presented by CarMax. Paramount+, Paramount Global's subscription streaming service, will also stream those six matches live. CBS Sports Network will air 23 matches across the regular season, playoffs and the Challenge Cup. Paramount+ will exclusively stream all additional NWSL matches live in the U.S, with a select number of those matches also streaming live on the CBS Sports Golazo Network, which launches on Tuesday, April 11.
For viewing options outside of the United States, Canadian sports broadcaster TSN will distribute NWSL matches, including the 2023 NWSL Championship, across its network in Canada this season with live match coverage across TSN and TSN+. Highlights and news updates throughout the NWSL season are available across SPORTSCENTRE, TSN.ca, TSN's official social media accounts, and DIGITAL SPORTSCENTRE.
