
Thompson signs on with Titans

TRENTON, NJ (September 22, 2005) - The Trenton Titans announced on Friday that they have agreed to terms with Chris Thompson for the 2005-06 season. Thompson, 27, has played 440 games, including 23 in the AHL, during a seven-year professional career. The 6'2'' 205-pounder from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan posted 19 goals, 32 assists, 51 points and a team-high 172 penalty minutes in 68 games as captain and third-leading scorer for the Louisiana IceGators last season. His AHL experience includes parts of two seasons (2002-04) with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and one apiece with the Albany River Rats (1998-99) and Cleveland Barons (2001-02). Thompson has totaled 108 goals, 164 assists, 272 points and 1,492 penalty minutes in the AHL, ECHL and United Hockey League. He also played four seasons (1995-99) of major-junior hockey in the Western Hockey League.
Thompson becomes the fourteenth player signed by the Titans for this season joining forwards Scott Bertoli, Aaron Gill, Joe Guenther, Chris Pittman, Russell Spence, Dustin Sproat and Mark Wires and defensemen Matt Maglione, Neil Petruic, Michael Schutte, Peter Tormey, Vince Williams and Aaron Wilson.
