Gulls invite four players to training camp

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls signed Samuel Seguin, Alex Rogosheske, Brad Wanchulak and Matt Schultz to tryout agreements for the 2005-06 season, head coach Martin St. Amour announced on Thursday. The four players will report to training camp, which is scheduled to start on Friday Oct. 7.

Seguin, 24, played 23 games for the University of Ottawa last year. The 6-foot, 168-pound forward had eight goals and 13 assists for a total of 21 points.

Rogosheske, 24, is a 6-foot-5-inch, 203-pound forward who played the last three seasons for Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He is a native of Mahtomedi, Minn. and was an All-Academic honorable mention in 2003-04.

Wanchulak, 25, is a native of Edson, Alberta who played the last four seasons for Notre Dame. The 5-foot-11-inch, 183-pound forward is known for his strong offensive play and good speed. Prior to his tenure at Notre Dame, Wanchulak played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Drayton Valley Thunder where he was selected as Rookie of the Year in 1998-99.

Schultz, 20, is a 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound defenseman who played one season for the Penticton Panthers of the British Columbia Hockey League. He played 56 games for Penticton in 2003-04 and had four points (1g, 3a). The Gulls open training camp at the San Diego Ice Arena in Mira Mesa on Friday, Oct. 7. The 2005-06 season officially gets underway on Friday, Oct. 21 in Alaska and the Home Opener is Saturday, Nov. 5 against Stockton. Season ticket packages are currently on sale.
