COLUMBIA, SC (September 22, 2005) - The Columbia Inferno is proud to announce a benefit preseason game to help the victims of the gulf coast region. The game will take place at the Carolina Coliseum at 7:05pm on Tuesday, October 18th against the Augusta Lynx.

Bob & Sandy Marshall of Lexington, the Cycle Center and Columbia Appliance & Service have agreed to be the major sponsors for this benefit game. Bob's employer, who is the Pepsi Bottling Group, is matching his contribution dollar for dollar.

Admission is free to the general public with a monetary donation to be given to the Red Cross for disaster relief efforts at the door. All concession proceeds will be donated by Centerplate and the University of South Carolina to the victims of the gulf coast region. The ECHL league office has agreed to provide the cost of the on-ice officials and courtesy of the University of South Carolina, parking for this one game will be free for all fans that attend the game.

As a professional organization representing Columbia and the Midlands, the owners, Inferno management, staff and team believe it is only right that we do our part in aiding those in need. We are asking full participation from the residents of the Midlands to help us raise money for the relief efforts. Newly acquired assistant coach Troy Mann has this note to extend to the residents of Columbia - "As a former player of the Mississippi Sea Wolves and a resident of the Gulf Coast, I still consider Biloxi my second home. My heart goes out to all my friends and the great people of the gulf coast region. I think anything we can do as an organization to ensure the revitalization of the Gulf Coast would be tremendously appreciated."

The Sea Wolves have suspended their play for the 2005-06 season because of extensive damage to their arena, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, which is located approximately 200 yards from the Gulf of Mexico. Not to mention the devastation that has occurred to the surrounding area.

The Inferno will present a check to the American Red Cross on opening night Friday, October 21st at 7:05 pm at the Carolina Coliseum. Check the Inferno website for ticket information at www.columbiainferno.com.
