Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - Boosting the current roster to 12 players in preparation for the 2005-06 season, the Stockton Thunder has signed forward Noah Whyte and left wing Paul McBrien, Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

"Noah will bring tons of energy and enthusiasm to the hockey club, along with an aggressive style of play," Cichocki said. "I like the fact that he plays an 'in-your-face' style of hockey with every shift he plays."

Whyte makes Stockton his third ECHL stop, previously splitting the 2004-05 campaign with the Toledo Storm and Pee Dee Pride (3-8-11, 60 pims), appearing in 52 games. Prior to his professional debut, the native of Pine Falls, Manitoba, Canada spent his junior career with the Langley Hornets (BCJHL), Trail Smoke Eaters (BCHL), and Selkirk Steelers (MJHL), also making an appearance with University of Manitoba (CIS).

Whyte's exploits landed him a role on CBC's reality-based hockey television program, "Making the Cut."

"Paul comes as a great, recommended, team-oriented player," said Cichocki. "He's a guy who will stand up for his teammates, and has great power-forward type potential."

McBrien, making his second professional stop, split his first pro season in 2004-05 with the United Hockey League's Flint Generals and Kansas City Outlaws (0-1-1), appearing in 16 games. The native of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada spent his previous three seasons in junior hockey with the Humboldt Broncos (SJHL), Owen Sound Attack (OHL), and Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL), appearing in 78 games total (5-7-12, 304 pims).

The Thunder opens the season on the road October 22nd against the Fresno Falcons and takes on the Falcons in the Thunder's home opener on December 3rd.

Season tickets for the upcoming Thunder season are on sale now. Tickets for the home opener can currently be purchased as part of a full or mini season package.
