Iowa Barnstormers News Release

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed wide receiver Eric Thomas to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Thomas (6-2, 210, Troy University) returns to the Iowa Barnstormers for his second season with the team. A veteran of the Indoor Football League (IFL), Thomas made his debut in 2016 with the Cedar Rapids Titans before joining the Nebraska Danger that same season where he remained through the franchise's final year of play in 2019. While with the Danger, Thomas made a name for himself in the indoor game after his breakout 2018 season, earning Second Team All-IFL honors. In 2021, Thomas appeared in 11 games with the Green Bay Blizzard collecting 28 receptions for 331 yards and 13 touchdowns, also recording one rushing touchdown.

Thomas joined the Iowa Barnstormers for the 2022 season, appearing in four games before an injury ended his season.

"Eric is a premier receiver in the IFL," said Head Coach Dave Mogensen. "Last year had some nagging injuries out of camp and then he was just hitting his stride when he broke his hand so we didn't get to see him at full strength very long. Adding him to our receiver mix really elevates our group, Eric with Speedy, Caleb, and Kumerow is one of the best wide receiver stables in the IFL."
