Frisco, TX - After entering the bye-week 3-0 following a 60-55 win against the Duke City Gladiators, the Frisco Fighters return to Comerica Center this Saturday for their second home game of the season against the Massachusetts Pirates.
The Fighters have been able to hold on to their number one spot in the East but take on the also undefeated Pirates in what promises to be an exciting game. The Fighters are led by number one coach in the IFL's coaches' poll for the third week in a row, head coach Billy Back.
PAST MEETUPS - FIGHTERS V PIRATES
This will be the fifth meetup for the Fighters and Pirates, with the most recent being March 12, 2022 and resulting in a 27-30 loss for Frisco. The Pirates have won three out of four games against the Fighters but have not played each other at Comerica Center since July 3, 2021.
With Frisco being the top team in the East and the Pirates on their heels in the second position, this is sure to be an exciting game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
A player to watch this week is recently returned defensive lineman Charles Williams. The 6'2" and 250-pound lineman finished the 2021 regular season as the Indoor Football League's sack leader (11) and tackles for loss leader (17), earning 2021 All-IFL First-Team honors.
Another player to watch this week is wide receiver Charles Headen. The SMU alum has been making moves on the IFL leader boards, securing second in kick returns with 264 yards at a 26.4-yard average. He sits right behind Sioux Falls Storm's Tony Tate with 222 yards at a 27.8-yard average.
Final player to watch this week is rookie and defensive back Shaq Bond. The rookie recorded five solo tackles and two interceptions in the April 1, 2023 game against the Duke City Gladiators, helping the Fighters secure the win.
