(Rochester, NY) - Red Wings left-handed relief pitcher Caleb Thielbar was recalled by the Minnesota Twins on Monday, the club announced today. In a corresponding move, Twins southpaw Pedro Hernandez was optioned to Rochester.

Thielbar was 1-1 with a 3.76 ERA (11 ER/26.1 IP) in 17 relief outings for the Red Wings this season. Over his last eight games, the 26-year-old, Minnesota native had allowed just one unearned run on four hits in 11.1 innings with 15 strikeouts. Thielbar also leads the Wings with an 11.6 strikeout/9-inning ratio (34 SO/26.1 IP).

This will be the first trip to the Major Leagues for Thielbar, who spent most of the 2011 season pitching for the independent St. Paul Saints of the Atlantic League, before signing with the Twins on August 18, 2011. He began the 2012 season with single-A Ft. Myers before ending the year with Rochester. He was added to the Twins 40-man roster in November.

In 123 minor league games, the 18th round pick of the Brewers in 2009 is 14-6 with a 3.15 ERA, including a 4-2 mark with a 3.65 ERA in 43 games with the Red Wings

Hernandez went 2-1 with a 5.85 ERA (21 ER/32.1 IP) in 8 games (6 starts) for Minnesota this season. Hernandez was on the Red Wings Opening Day roster but was recalled on April 7 before ever throwing a pitch for the Wings after RHP Cole De Vries was put on the disabled list.
