Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
After dropping the first three games of this road trip, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs head north to Syracuse for three games.
PITCHING MATCHUP
Ben Lively gets the ball in game one of the series for the Pigs. The Chiefs will counter with Erick Fedde, making his second start of the season against Lehigh Valley. Today's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.
Lively has made one start since returning from the DL last week. Making his first Triple-A start of the year on May 11 against Buffalo, Lively went five innings and allowed just one hit while striking out three. The top pitching prospect in the Nationals organization, Fedde is making his second start against the Pigs this season. Lehigh Valley tagged him for five runs over five innings on May 2.
LAST GAME
The IronPigs fell 5-4 to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday at PNC Field. The 11-inning contest was the second loss in extras for Lehigh Valley, and the second walk-off loss in the last three games as the RailRiders swept the three-game series. Click here to read a recap.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Chiefs took the two of three earlier this month at Coca-Cola Park. In that series, the Pigs avoided a sweep with an 8-6 victory in the game Fedde started (May 2). All-time, the Chiefs hold a slight edge in the series with an 84-82 overall mark. The Chiefs hold a 45-39 edge on games played in Syracuse, but the Pigs have had a winning record at NBT Bank Stadium in each of the last three seasons.
The Chiefs next trip to Coca-Cola Park will be July 2-3 for a two-game series.
