| Game No. 39 | Friday May 18, 2018 | Coca-Cola Field | Buffalo, NY |

LAST TIME OUT: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders trailed the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 4-2 entering the bottom of the 8th inning, but Mike Ford continued his power surge and Tyler Wade creatively brought home the winning run with two outs in the 11th inning for the win. With the teams trading scoreless half innings from the top of the 9th inning into the bottom of the 11th, the RailRiders took advantage of the new pace-of-play baserunner at second base to begin the inning. Zack Zehner advance to third base when the leadoff batter, Navarro, grounded out to first base, which set up an intentional walk to Mazzilli.

The RailRiders' second baseman took second base on defensive indifference and watched on as Shane Robinson grounded out to a drawn-in infield and didn't score Zehner from third base. The next man up was Wade who promptly dragged a bunt down the first base line and forced Jake Waguspack to field with the bare hand, spin and throw to first. The throw was bang-bang at the bag with Wade, but was over the top of Joey Meneses and rolled into right field as Zehner scored to win the game.

ADDING A BAT: INF Brandon Drury is expected to join the RailRiders for the series in Buffalo. In 8G this season with the New York Yankees, the right-hander was hitting .217 AVG (5-for-23), 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 4 BB (.333 OBP) before going down with blurry vision symptoms. In his first rehab stint with the RailRiders from April 25 - May 4 he appeared in 8G going 10-for-26 (.385 AVG), 2 2B, RBI, 3 BB, 2 HBP (.484 OBP). He was transferred to the Trenton Thunder from May 4 - May 10 for 6G before being transferred back to Triple-A SWB 5/10 to continue rehab assignment. Drury was returned from his Rehab Assignment May 14 and reinstated from New York 10-Day Disabled List. At that point he was optioned to Triple-A SWB and has 72 hours to report to the RailRiders, which would have culminated Thursday night.

A RARE SWEEP: After a quick turnaround from Wednesday's 3-1 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders woke up bright and early and completed their first sweep of the season Thursday against the 'Pigs. The last sweep by the RailRiders was completed 8/7 - 8/9 @ Gwinnett over the G-Braves, 61 games ago. It had also been a long time since the RailRiders swept a 3- or 4-game series against Lehigh Valley, dating back to the first four games of the 2009 season, 4/9 - 4/12.

RIDING THE ARMS...: Over the last week's worth of games, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders have gotten strong pitching from their entire staff. With a 4-2 homestand in the rearview mirror, the pitching helped anchor those wins with a 2.55 ERA allowing 37 hits (6.2 per game) over 53.0 IP while striking out 60 (10.2 K/9) and walking 22 (2.7 K/BB). Entering Friday's series opener with the Buffalo Bisons rank 7th in the International League with a 3.56 ERA this season and 4th ing the International League with a 8.9 K/9 IP rate (322 K in 324.0 IP).

...BUT NOT READY TO PITCH: In Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader, the Rochester Red Wings plated 4-of-5 inherited runners off the RailRiders bullpen. Entering that game the bullpen had allowed 13-of-35 (37.1%) inherited runners to score, but that number went up when LHP Oliver Perez allowed both runners he inherited to score and RHP Cody Carroll entered with the bases loaded in the 8th inning and 2-of-3 runners scored. Entering that game first batters were 16-for-66 (.242 BAA) against RailRiders relievers with a .297 OBP (22-for-74) 4 2B, 5 RBI, 15 K. Six games later those numbers sit at 21-for-77 (.273 BAA) with a .348 OBP (31-for-89) after nine of the last 15 first batters have reached safely against SWB bullpen arms.
