WINNIPEG, MB - The Inside Pitch, the official radio show of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, returns to airwaves on Thursday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m. on CJNU 93.7 FM
Thursday night's guest panel includes Goldeyes' manager Rick Forney, new Goldeyes' infielder and British Columbia native Wes Darvill, Gary SouthShore RailCats broadcaster Dan Vaughan, Arizona Diamondbacks' Special Assignment Scout and Independent Coordinator Chris Carminucci, and Hall of Fame baseball writer Bob Elliott .
Forney heads into his 11th season as the Goldeyes' skipper and his 20th overall within the organization. During his first 10 seasons at the helm, Forney has guided the club to an overall .547 winning percentage, seven playoff appearances, and the 2012 American Association championship. Forney is expected to announce the Goldeyes' latest player signing on Thursday's show.
Darvill hails from Richmond, British Columbia and signed with the Goldeyes on February 8th. The left-handed hitter played seven years in the Chicago Cubs' organization, reaching the Double-A level each of the last two years. Darvill is one of three players on the Goldeyes' roster with Canadian ties.
Vaughan is in his fourth season as the RailCats' radio broadcaster. The native Texan has also called games in recent years for the Australian Baseball League's Perth Heat. Goldeyes' right-hander Edwin Carl pitched for the Heat this past winter.
Carminucci is in his fourth year as Special Assignment Scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Carminucci played a significant role in the Diamondbacks purchasing David Peralta from the Amarillo Sox in 2013, and has signed numerous others from the American Association to affiliated contracts. Peralta hit .312 with 17 home runs and 78 RBI at the Major League level in 2015.
Elliott is a veteran columnist for the Toronto Sun, and is frequently regarded as Canada's most well-known baseball writer. Elliott received the prestigious J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2012, and was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
