Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Blizzard Update: The Green Bay Blizzard (7-1) are starting to make a habit out of late game heroics. Trailing the Omaha Beef (2-4) 49-44 in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, Blizzard QB Jake Phillips engineered another amazing scoring drive when he found WR Scott Burnoski open in the end zone for an 11 yard strike which sealed the Blizzard victory 50-49 with no time left on the clock. This is the second week in the row that Phillips has led his team to victory in the winding seconds of the game and he is becoming to make it look easy. The Blizzard are coming off of a bye in which they got some much needed rest.
Slaughter Update: Chicago Slaughter (3-4) traveled to take on Central North Division opponent the La Crosse Spartans (1-7). The game marked a momentous night in the brief history of the Spartan's franchise as the team was able to pull off the upset and in the process, win its first ever game, 35-29. In a back and forth game, both defenses came to play as the teams combined for only 277 yards of offense. The loss brings the Slaughter's three game winning streak to an abrupt end and places them in a tie for 8th place, the final playoff spot, in the United Conference with the Omaha Beef. The Slaughter will look to pull back to .500 on the season when they travel to Green Bay to take on the Central North Division leading Blizzard.
The Blizzard returns home to play at Online Trading Academy Field in the Resch Center on Saturday, May 8th at 7:05 against the Chicago Slaughter. Blizzard-Slaughter tickets are on sale now and start as low as $8 and are available by calling the Ticket Star box office at 800-895-0071 or visiting Ticket Star's website at www.tickestaronline.com
