Predators Look To Cool The Fever

May 6, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Seattle Timberwolves News Release

Kent, WA: After three straight losses to begin the season, the Kent Predators went on a tear and were considered arguably the league's most dangerous team from Weeks Four-Eight. However, the team has dropped their last two in a row since, with their explosive offense seeming to be neutralized by opposing defenses. But despite their ups and downs, the Predators are in the thick of things for a berth in the Intense Conference playoffs. This Saturday, the team travels to face a familiar foe in the Tri-Cities Fever. Kent has been on the winning side of two battles between the teams thus far, most recently on April 18th, and hopes to make it three for three against their in-state rivals.

Since joining the Indoor Football League from the AF2, the Tri-Cities Fever has had their share of lumps transitioning into the new style of play. They seem to how however, bounced back from a few close losses early in the season, and are still in contention for claiming a playoff spot in the Intense Conference as well. Last week, the Fever beat the Alaska Wild 56-48 to move within a half game of the Predators in the Pacific North Division. They are lead by a defense that features Montavis Pitts. The standout defensive back is among the IFL's top ten in tackles with 58 to go along with his three interceptions, one of which he has returned for a touchdown. In years past they have thrived playing on home turf.

The Predators recent slide has in large part to do with defenses keying of Quarterback Charles McCullum, and not allowing him to beat them with his feet. The multi-talented Quarterback is among the top in the IFL in rushing yards (458), rushing touchdowns (13), passing yards (1338), and touchdown passes (32). Coach McCarthy has been scheming all week for new ways to utilize his top weapon, and get him the time air the ball out as well as make plays on the ground. Look for him to have a big rebound game, and put receivers Andre Jordan, Eric Taylor and Travis Poole in position to make some big catches.

Those wishing to watch Saturday evening's game can log onto www.b2tv.com and purchase a season or individual game pass. The Predators next home contest is scheduled for Friday, May 14th at the ShoWare Center in Kent at 7:30 p.m. The team will try to avenge an early season loss at the hands of the Fairbanks Grizzlies. Tickets are still available by calling the team office at 253-239-3254, or by visiting the Predators site at www.kentpredators.com. Discounts are also available for groups of ten or more.
