Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, Fla.--- The Marauders (32-29) and the Mighty Mussels (32-29) met for the fourth game of a six-game series at LECOM Park on a pristine Friday night for baseball at the corner of 9th and 17th. The Marauders would jump out to a solid lead in the middle innings and carry their sizeable advantage to a 6-1 victory.

The game saw little action offensively in the first few innings as Marauders starter Alessandro Ercolani put on a show. The San Marino-born right-hander tossed five shutout innings in which he allowed only three base runners on his way to earning his second win of the season.

Bradenton's bats came alive in the home half of the fourth inning. After Termarr Johnson led off the frame with a hard-earned walk, Shalin Polanco pulled a double down the rightfield line to put men and second and third for Rodolfo Nolasco.

After falling behind in the count, 0-2, Nolasco connected on a high fastball and hit it over the left centerfield wall to score three and give the Young Bucs a healthy 3-0 advantage after four innings played.

In the fifth, the Marauders struck again when team home run leader Shalin Polanco hit his 10th long ball of the season to the deepest part of the yard to extend the hometown boys' lead to 6-0 after Brannigan stole home earlier in the inning.

The combined bullpen effort of Franzua, Bidois, and De La Paz held the visitors to four hits and just one run in the game's final four innings to cruise the Marauders to a comfortable 6-1 win.

The Marauders will look to take their first lead in the series on Saturday night with Derek Diamond on the mound for the 6:30 first pitch.
