KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 4-3 Friday night at the Viaero Center. August Falloon, Daimon Gardner, Trevor Connelly, and Jake Richard each netted a goal in the victory for Tri-City. The Storm has now captured three of the first four games in this year's series against the Musketeers. Cameron Korpi collected the win in net for the Storm. Puck drop for tomorrow's rematch at the Viaero Center is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
August Falloon scored his tenth goal of the season at 6:42 of Friday's opening period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead in the matchup. Dane Dowiak and Seth Constance each notched an assist on the scoring play. Sioux City's Sam Deckhut scored his eighth goal of the season at 10:16 of the 1st period to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. Ty Hanson and Ben Poitras assisted on the play. Daimon Gardner scored the Storm's 38th powerplay goal of the year at 12:44 of the period to give the Storm another one-goal lead in the matchup. The goal was Gardner's eighth of the season, and was assisted by Tanner Adams. Trevor Connelly scored his twelfth goal of the year with less than one second remaining in Friday's opening period to give Tri-City a 3-1 lead. Dane Dowiak and Daimon Gardner each notched an assist on the scoring play. The Storm outshot the Musketeers 15-6 in the 1st period, and carried a two-goal lead into the 2nd period.
Ben Poitras netted his twelfth goal of the season at 9:31 of the middle period to bring the Musketeers to within one goal of the Storm's lead. Ty Hanson and Patrick Reilly assisted on the scoring play. Jake Richard netted his twenty-first goal of the season at 11:24 of the period to give the Storm another two-goal advantage in the matchup. Evan Werner notched an assist on the scoring play. The final goal of the period was netted by Sioux City's Tyler Hotson with less than one minute to play. Garrett Brown and Sam Deckhut each recorded an assist on Hotson's powerplay goal. Tri-City outshot Sioux City 15-11 in the 2nd period, and the Storm entered the final period with a 4-3 lead.
The Storm outshot the Musketeers 12-11 in the 3rd period, and by an overall margin of 42-28 in the matchup. Each team failed to score a goal during Friday's final period, and Tri-City skated away with a 4-3 home victory over Sioux City.
Cameron Korpi made 25 saves on 28 shots to win the game in net for the Storm. He improved to 8-2-2-0 on the season in goal for Tri-City in the victory. Axel Mangbo recorded the loss in goal for the Musketeers after stopping 38 of the Storm's 42 shots on goal during the matchup.
The Storm improved to 8-4-1-2 in games played at the Viaero Center this year. Tri-City is now 21-16-2-3 overall on the season, and remains the 4th place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings.
