Texas Stars News Release
Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced today the team has signed defensemen Brad Miller and Brendan Milnamow to AHL contracts. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Texas Stars also announced their 2009-10 training camp schedule.
"Miller comes to us from a very strong college program after four years at UND," said Texas Stars General Manager Scott White. "We expect Miller to be able to pitch in offensively. Milnanow has good size, plays a defensive style and will add depth to our back end."
Miller turns pro after a four-year stint at the University of North Dakota, where the defender played in a total of 128 games, scoring 21 times and setting up 48 others for 69 collegiate points. In 2008-09, the 5-foot-10, 174-pounder wrapped up his college career with a career-high 29 assists and 35 points in 41 games as senior for the Fighting Sioux. Miller was a member of UND's 2009 WCHA regular season championship team and the 2006 WCHA tournament championship team. He also made an appearance with UND in the Frozen Four in 2006, 2007 and in 2008.
Milnamow made his pro debut with Texas' ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads, in late March of 2009 after completing a four-year playing at Union College. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound blueliner recorded collegiate highs with nine goals and 18 points in 39 games as a senior. The defenseman also led the team with 62 penalty minutes. After the NCAA season ended, Milnamow joined Idaho, recording two penalty minutes in five games. The Connecticut native played in 140 NCAA games over four seasons, scoring 16 goals and setting up 24 others for a total of 40 points at Union College.
