Admirals Training Camp to Open Next Week

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Admirals General Manager Mike Butters today announced the free agent tryout roster and schedule for 2009-10 Norfolk Admirals Training Camp. Camp will commence next Wednesday, September 23 at Norfolk Scope Arena.
Yesterday, the Admirals NHL parent club, the Tampa Bay Lightning, assigned the first players to Admirals training camp: D Kevin Quick, D Scott Jackson, C Mitch Fadden and RW Chris Lawrence. Tampa Bay will assign additional NHL-contract players to Norfolk throughout training camp.
The following free agents will attend training camp: D Ben Wright, D Trevor Hendrikx, C Ryan McDonald, C Travis Whitehead, LW Justin Keller, RW Matt Dias, RW Stephen Werner, RW Erick Lizon, RW Chaz Johnson and RW Tommy Goebel.
The Admirals will hold on-ice practice sessions at Norfolk Scope next week. Beginning on Thursday, September 24, all weekday on-ice practices will be open to the public. Wednesday's training camp testing sessions and all weekend practices will be closed to the public.
A tentative training camp schedule is given below. Fans are strongly encouraged to phone the Admirals at (757) 640-1212 to ensure that there have not been changes to the schedule. All fans will be required to sign in at the Scope reception desk and obtain a visitor's pass.
The Admirals will take part in two preseason contests during training camp. They will face off against their NHL parent club, the Tampa Bay Lightning, on Friday, September 25 at Norfolk Scope Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Admirals will then travel to Hershey to face the Bears at the Giant Center on Sunday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m. before returning to Scope for the second week of camp.
Single game tickets for all Admirals regular season home games are now on sale. Tickets are also currently on sale for the exhibition game pitting the Admirals against their NHL parent club, the Tampa Bay Lightning, at Scope on Friday, September 25.
