(York, Pa.): Val Majewski's patience and superb performance have again paid off through the first half of another Atlantic League season. The defending Atlantic League Champion York Revolution is pleased to announce that Majewski's Atlantic League contract has been purchased by the defending American League Champion Texas Rangers. This marks the fourth consecutive season Majewski has returned to a Major League Organization from the Atlantic League.

In 2008, the outfielder/first baseman went from the Newark Bears to the Houston Astros, and in 2009 from the Camden Riversharks to the Los Angeles Angels. After coming to York to begin last season, Majewski jumped to the Oakland Athletics system where he finished the year, before accepting the deal with Texas on Monday afternoon.

Majewski has been an integral park of the York offense, leading the team with 48 RBI this season, and tied for the team lead with 63 runs to go along with a .317 average. His 11 home runs rank second on the team as well. Those impressive numbers came in 71 out of a possible 73 games, as the durable Majewski has only taken two days off this season. For his efforts, he was also selected to the Atlantic League All-Star Game, which was played July 13 at Sovereign Bank Stadium in York.

Majewski, 30, is in his ninth professional season after being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round (76th overall) of the 2002 draft. He would reach the Major Leagues with Baltimore in 2004. The Freehold, NJ native played college baseball in the Big East Conference for Rutgers University in his home state. He is the fifth Revolution player to have his contract purchased by an MLB club during this season, and the seventh since the beginning of 2011 spring training.
