ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express OF Willie Calhoun is going back to the Bigs! The Texas Rangers announced on Friday afternoon that the club has recalled Calhoun, who is expected to be in uniform tonight for the team's second-half opener against the Cleveland Indians at Globe Life Park.

Calhoun departs for Arlington after having reached base in 23 consecutive games since June 24. His hot stretch included a career-best 18-game hitting streak from June 24-July 13. Since the streak began, Calhoun is hitting .402 (37-92) with eight doubles, two homers and 16 RBI. He has also drawn at least one walk in a career-best seven consecutive games.

On the year, Calhoun is hitting .307 (115-376) with 28 doubles, eight homers and 42 RBI in 94 appearances, including 78 starts in left field. He leads the Express in nearly every offensive category, including games played (94), at-bats (376), hits (115), doubles (28) and total bases (167).

The 23-year-old leaves the E-Train ranked among Pacific Coast League leaders in a multitude of categories. The slugger currently leads the league in doubles while ranking second in games played and base hits. He is also third in total at-bats and fifth in total bases. His aforementioned 18-game hitting streak is the seventh-longest such streak in the PCL this season.

This marks Calhoun's second season within the Texas Rangers organization after being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a trade deadline deal for RHP Yu Darvish in 2017. In 29 games with the Express a year ago, the Vallejo, California native hit .310 with three doubles, a triple, eight home runs and 26 RBI. He set an Express record on September 3 with eight RBI, including the first walkoff grand slam in Round Rock franchise history.

Calhoun entered the season ranked as the second-best prospect in the Rangers organization, according to MLB.com. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2015 June Draft.

The Express open a four-game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Friday night at Werner Park in Papillion, Nebraska. Round Rock LHP David Hurlbut (4-6, 5.86) is scheduled to start against Omaha LHP Jonathan Dziedzic (3-8, 3.86). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
