Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: The Aces look to continue their hot-streak into Friday night as they welcome the Las Vegas 51's to Greater Nevada Field. Fresh off a series victory over the Tacoma Rainiers the Aces find themselves at .500 for the first time since April. Ildemaro Vargas' hit-streak is up to 19 games and the Aces are winners of nine of their last 10 games.

Last Game: Reno took the final game of the four-game set against the Rainiers last night by a score of 5-3. Neftali Feliz tossed a gem, allowing one run on four hits over six innings of work. Socrates Brito and Cody Decker led the power charge with back-to-back jacks in the sixth inning and Ildemaro Vargas had a career-best five hits. The win puts the Aces at .500 for the first time since April 12th (4-4) and seven games back of first place.

Let's Go Streaking: Ildemaro Vargas returned to the Aces starting lineup following a few days off after being hit in the head in game one of the series. Vargas entered last night with an 18-game hit streak (29-for-80, 12 R, 11 RBI, 5 2B). The switch-hitting infielder finished 5-for-5 and extended his streak on just the second pitch he saw tonight with a single into left field. He has the second longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League behind Mauricio Dubon of Colorado Springs. His five hits tonight were a career-best mark for the Venezuela native.

Neftali the Starter: Neftali Feliz has made four starts for the Aces and since his transition to the starting rotation he has not disappointed. He's gone 20.0 innings and allowed just five runs on 17 hits. His 2.25 ERA as a starter compared to a 6.92 ERA out of the bullpen. He's won four consecutive games and has not lost a start yet. Feliz is one of just three players in the Pacific Coast League with three wins in the month of July. Both of the others, Austin Gomber/Daniel Poncedeleon play for the Memphis Redbirds.

June 1, 2018: The power bill for the Reno Aces has skyrocketed since June 1st. Three Aces players have 10+ home runs since that date (Kevin Cron, 12 / Christian Walker, 10 / Socrates Brito, 15). Brito's 15 are tied for the most in professional baseball with Jesus Aguilar (MIL, 15), Alex Bregman (HOU, 15), Max Muncy (LAD, 15). All three of the players tied with Brito competed in the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby this year.

Back-to-back Jacks: Socrates Brito homered in the bottom of the sixth inning last night and Cody Decker immediately followed with one of his own. This is the eighth time this season the Aces have hit back-to-back home runs. Socrates Brito has found himself in five of those eight and has hit 17 home runs this season by himself.

10 Hot: Over the last 10 games the Reno Aces have been one of the best teams in all of baseball. As a group, Reno is batting .320 with 67 runs scored and 22 home runs. Ildemaro Vargas has led the way with an average of .481 (13-for-27) and Neftali Feliz has turned in three wins on the mound. The Aces are the only team in Triple-A Baseball with nine or more wins over their last 10 games.
