
Texas Outlasts Westchester 105-103 at Showcase

SANTA CRUZ, CA. - The Texas Legends (9-8) defeated the Westchester Knicks (13-7) on Wednesday in the second game of the NBA Development League Showcase in Santa Cruz, CA.
Tu Holloway and Jimmer Fredette exchanged game-high 24 point efforts as Fredette's potential go-ahead three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out. Holloway hit 9-of-15 shots, including five-of-six from three-point range to go along with seven assists and just one turnover. Fredette made 9-of-16 shots and added seven assists, five rebounds and three steals.
Texas jumped out to a 32-19 lead in the first quarter with seven Legends tallying points in the first frame behind five-of-seven (71.4 percent) shooting from three-point range and limiting Westchester to 8-of-23 shooting (34.8 percent).
Trailing 50-40 with 6:08 remaining in the first half, Westchester closed the half on a 16-8 run to trim the Legends' lead to two, 58-56, behind Fredette's 13-point quarter on five-of-six shooting, including two-of-two from downtown. Holloway paced Texas with his four three-pointers in the first half for a team-high 12 points and five assists.
Westchester shot 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) in the third quarter and outscored the Legends 30-20 to take the 86-78 lead into the final frame behind Travis Trice's 10 third-quarter points. Trice finished with 18 points and seven assists, including four-of-six shooting from three-point range.
The fourth quarter featured four ties and three lead changes as the Legends turned the ball over just once in the final frame to secure their fourth victory in the last six games.
Jordan Bachynski added 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting while Trice (18), Sean Marshall (13), Darion Atkins (12) and Gani Lawal (10) rounded out the double-digit scoring efforts for the Knicks.
Toure' Murry scored 12 points and dished out a game-high eight assists. Jamil Wilson contributed 18 points in 27:19 minutes of action off the bench. Brandon Ashley filled the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five blocks.
Westchester will play their final game of the NBA D-League Showcase on Friday, January 8 at 3:30 p.m. ET against the Reno Bighorns (11-7). Texas' next game will also be their final game of the Showcase as they face off against the Delaware 87ers (12-9) on Thursday, January 7 at 10:30 p.m. ET. Both games can be seen live on NBA TV.
