Ottawa Lynx News Release
Luis Terrero went 3-for-3 with two homers, a double and three RBI leading the Ottawa to a convincing 11-1 win over Scranton on Sunday. Fernando Tatis went 2-for-3 with homer and three runs scored for Ottawa, while Andy Tracy also homered. RHP Brian Bowles gave up one run in 6.0 innings of work to collect his 4th win of the year for the Lynx.
The victory improves Ottawa's record to 35-36 on the season.
The Red Barons got on the scoreboard first with a single run in the top of the second when Dusty Wathan hit an RBI single off of Lynx starter Brian Bowles. The Lynx responded in the bottom half when Luis Terrero blasted his 7th homer of the year to left, evening the game at 1-1.
The Lynx bats caught fire from there, as Ottawa scored four runs on five hits in the 3rd. Fernando Tatis started the rally with a double, and went to third on Andy Tracy's single to right. Terrero then followed with a sacrifice fly to right putting the Lynx up 2-1. After a Keith Reed double moved Tracy to third, Brandon Marsters lined an RBI single to left. A Val Majewski groundout and a Brooks Badeaux bunt single would drive home two more runs giving the Lynx a 5-1 lead. Ottawa would use the long ball to increase their lead in the 4th. Fernando Tatis blasted a leadoff homer, and one batter later Luis Terrero touched off his second round tripper of the day and 8th of the campaign to put Ottawa up 7-1.
Ottawa would add one more run in the inning when Keith Reed moved to third on a Val Majewski double and scored when Shawn Garrett mishandled Majewski's drive putting the Lynx up 8-1. Ottawa added three more runs in the 8th, as Andy Tracy launched his 13th homer of the year (a two-run shot), and back-to-back doubles by Terrero and Keith Reed plated the final run in a 11-1 win.
Player Of The Game: Lynx LF Luis Terrero went 3-for-3 with two homers and three RBI to lead the Lynx to victory.
Next Game: The Lynx and Red Barons meet in the third game of this four game series on Monday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
