Tenth Inning Magic, Braves Walk off Win 7-6

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers Monday night in walk off fashion winning the game 7-6 in the tenth inning in front of 1,617 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

Greensboro got the game started early by putting two runs on the board in the first inning on a double by Justin Twine who later scored on a wild pitch. The Braves quickly tied the contest in the bottom of the first on an RBI ground out by Keith Curcio and a run scoring double by Wigberto Nevarez.

The Braves added four more runs in the bottom of the third when Matt Tellor cracked a grand slam (1) to left field on a 2-1 pitch scoring Curcio, Jordan Edgerton and Nevarez making it a 6-2 game. The Grasshoppers added a run in the fourth on a RBI single by Zach Sullivan and scored three times in the ninth to tie the game. With the bases loaded, a fielding error by Omar Obregon allowed two runs to score and a sacrifice fly RBI by KJ Woods knotted the game 6-6. In the bottom of the tenth, Rome put runners on first and second and Codey McElroy singled home the winning run for the 7-6 final.

Braves reliever Kyle Kinman (1-0) gets the win and Josh Hodges (2-1) the loss.

Roster Move: Prior to the game, Rome has transferred RHP Daniel Cordero to the Gulf Coast League and has received LHP Oriel Caicedo from Danville. The roster is at 25 players.
