July 5, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Springfield Sliders News Release

On the same day that he was named as the starting 1B in the 2012 Prospect League All-Star Game, Matt Tellor hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the thirteenth inning to lift the Sliders to an 11-10 victory over the Dubois County Bombers tonight at Robin Roberts Stadium. The game started with another Sliders' All-Star starter hitting a solo home run, as LF Mike Fitzgerald hit his ninth of the year in the second inning for the game's first run. Dubois County would take the lead quickly away as they scored three in the third. Springfield brought the lead down to one in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly from 2B David Kerian. Dubois County would score five in the fourth and one in the fifth to take their lead to 9-2, and chase Sliders' starter Cody Repenning. Then, the comeback started in the bottom of the fifth. SS Matt Highland had an RBI groundout, Kerian drove in his second run of the game with a single, and Fitzgerald hit a two run double, to pull the Sliders within three. They closed the gap to one in the seventh when Fitzgerald singled for his fourth RBI of the night, and C Matt Stevens had an RBI groundout. In the ninth, Dubois County picked up an insurance run on a solo home run by Chris Tavares to make it 10-8. In the ninth, Kerian reached on an error to start the inning, but was still at first with two outs when Stevens stepped to the plate. Stevens blasted a 3-2 pitch for his sixth home run of the year to tie it up and send the game to extra innings. TR Dunne, the Sliders' All-Star pitcher, came on and threw four shutout innings of relief. He was matched by the Dubois County bullpen until Tellor led off the bottom of the thirteenth with his home run, his eighth of the season. The win is the Sliders' second walk-off win this year and second straight win this season against the Bombers. These two teams wrap up the series tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35. The game will be broadcast on the Springfield Sliders' Ustream channel.
