Butler, PA - July 3, 2012 - Elliott Caldwell was named the Prospect League Hitter of the Week last week by Pointsreak, the League's official statistical provider, marking the first time this summer that a BlueSox player has received the honor.

A sophomore from Winthrop University, Caldwell is leading the team as well as the League in batting average, hitting .409 through the season's first half.

Caldwell hit for a .486 average over the previous week going 17/35. His hits included two home runs, two doubles, and three triples. Caldwell scored 11 runs and knocked in 13 more. He leads the team with 27 RBIs, despite having hit first or second in the lineup for most games.

His week was highlighted by Sunday's game at Pullman Park, during which Caldwell went 3-for-4 with a walk, hit two home runs for four RBIs, and stole two bases against the Richmond RiverRats. Having played every game for the BlueSox this summer, Caldwell has split time between shortstop and the outfield.

West Virginia's Mike Finnigan was named the Pitcher of the Week.
