Charlotte Knights News Release

(Fort Mill, SC) - Blake Tekotte, who made his Knights debut on Friday after being activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, has been recalled to Chicago, as announced by the White Sox today. Tekotte takes the roster spot of former Knights outfielder Dayan Viciedo, who was placed on the disabled list (retroactive to April 19) by Chicago.

Charlotte will receive outfielder Brandon Short from Birmingham, who was hitting .189 with eight RBIs in 15 games this season. LHP Santos Rodriguez was also activated off of the disabled list by the Knights and sent to Birmingham. Rodriguez has yet to appear in a game this season.

Tekotte, 25, was acquired by the White Sox on November 7, 2012 in a trade with the San Diego Padres for former Knights reliever Brandon Kloess. A native of Colombia, MO, Tekotte started for the Knights last night and went 0-2. He is ranked by Baseball America as the 15th best prospect in the White Sox organization.

Tekotte becomes the fourth player this season to go from Charlotte to Chicago. He joins RHP Deunte Heath, INF Tyler Greene, and OF Jordan Danks, who have all received promotions already this season. Last year, the Knights sent 17 players to Chicago.

The Knights host the Gwinnett Braves in the finale of a two-game series from Knights Stadium tonight. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. The Charlotte Knights Dance Team - The KnightinGals, will perform throughout the night. After the game, the Knights will light-up the sky with thrilling post-game fireworks, courtesy of BB&T Ballpark and News Talk 1110 WBT.

Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman is also expected to continue his rehab assignment tonight with the Gwinnett Braves. Freeman played for Gwinnett in Friday's contest at Knights Stadium as he works his way back to the Majors.

Tickets for Saturday's game at Knights Stadium are available for purchase by phone at 704-357-8071 ext. 2116, in-person at the Knights Stadium Box Office, or online at www.charlotteknights.com.
