York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.) - Isaias Tejeda belted two home runs as the York Revolution opened a series against the Somerset Patriots on a high note, downing the defending Atlantic League champions 7-5 on Friday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs (21-14) have now won four straight to open a seven-game homestand after handing the Patriots (20-15) their sixth loss in seven games.

Joel Guzman opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run homer over the batter's eye in dead center field.

The hot start continued in the second as Andres Perez led off with a single. After a flyout and a walk, James Simmons belted a gapper to left center, scoring Perez on the double to make it 3-0. That brought up Tejeda, who took a 2-2 pitch and fired a laser that cleared the big wall in right. The three-run opposite-field shot was his first of the season and made it 6-0 York after the first two innings.

Somerset got on the board in the third as Trayvon Robinson walked and scored on an error. After a single and a fielder's choice in the fifth, Yovan Gonzalez belted a home run way over the Arch Nemesis to get the Patriots closer at 6-3.

The sixth belonged to Tejeda, who smashed a two-out solo home run to left center for his second of the game, padding the York lead at 7-3.

The Patriots cranked back-to-back homers in the seventh, as Mycal Jones and Aharon Eggleston both went deep with two outs to give the game its final margin.

Two was as close as Somerset would get, as the Revs bullpen settled down for the final seven outs. Ricardo Gomez came on to get the final man in the seventh. Frank Gailey gave up a couple singles and a walk in the eighth but ramped it up for back-to-back strikeouts to leave them loaded. With Mike DeMark off for the night after pitching the last two days, Julio DePaula notched his first save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth to send the Friday crowd of 3,552 home happy.

Tejeda finished the game 2-for-5 with his first two home runs of the year and four RBIs. Guzman also picked up a pair of hits for York.

Jones, Carlos Guzman, and Gonzalez each notched multi-hit games for the Patriots.

Mariel Checo (2-0) earned the win by getting the last two outs of the fifth inning. Jeremy Horst (2-1) allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in six innings to take the loss.

Tony Pena started for the Revs and did not factor into the decision, going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, walking one and striking out five.

Notes: York has now won a season-high six in a row at home. With the two home runs, Tejeda now has 11 multi-hit games in the month of May. Guzman's sixth homer of the season ties him for second in the Atlantic League. Telvin Nash singled in the seventh to extend his hitting streak to seven games.
