Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Tennessee Smokies at Bragan Field at 3:05 p.m.
Infielder Miguel Tejada has been reinstated from the restricted list and placed on Triple-A New Orleans' disabled list with right rotator cuff tendinopathy.
Tejada, a six-time All-Star and the 2002 American League Most Valuable Player, played in four games with the Suns hitting .357 (5-for-14) with a double and two runs scored. Tejada was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent in May, and was with the Suns on a rehab assignment off of the restricted list.
The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, plus infielder Rafael Furcal on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
Today the Suns will start the left-hander Justin Nicolino (5-2, 3.23), with the Smokies set to throw out righty Matt Loosen (3-2, 5.01) for Sunday's fourth game of the series.
Suns fans can listen to Sunday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or throughwww.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 2:50 p.m. ET with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show on Suns Sunday.
