Omaha Lancers News Release
Jeff Teglia turned aside all 34 shots he faced and the Omaha Lancers registered their fifth shutout as a team this season blanking the Sioux City Musketeers 4-0 Tuesday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. With the win, the Lancers improved to 28-9-3 on the year and now hold a four-point edge in the West Division standings heading into their weekend series with the Fargo Force. Omaha is also now a perfect 5-0 on the year against Sioux City.
The Lancers grabbed the game's opening marker just past the midway point of period one when Seth Ambroz threw a shot from the left wing, which grazed off a body in front and past Musketeers' goaltender Matt Skoff. Dakota Eveland and Troy Power earned the two assists on Ambroz's 14th marker of the season. Omaha then doubled its lead less than six minutes later when Erik Haula won a goal line scramble before chipping home his 21st goal of the season. Colin Markison grabbed the only assist on the even strength marker netted 17:51 into the opening frame.
Omaha picked up in the second period just as it had left off in the first when Haula's takeaway at center ice led to a 2-on-1 alongside Stefan Demopoulos eventually resulting in Demopoulos' 6th goal of the season and his first in the last 10 games. Sioux City didn't lay down in the period though and produced 15 total shots in the frame, all of which were turned aside by Lancers' goaltender Teglia.
The Lancers landed the final nail in the coffin with just 1:45 left in regulation when Markison's cross-crease pass led to Anthony Hamburg's 5th goal of the season. Danny Mattson grabbed the secondly helper on the only goal netted in a period three - a period which featured a combined six fighting majors between Omaha and Sioux City.
Teglia earned his league-leading 22nd victory in goal and produced his 3rd shutout of the season turning aside all 34 Sioux City shots he faced. The Bloomingdale, Illinois native is now 22-7-2 on the year. Skoff fell to 12-13-3 on the season after just 16 saves on 20 Omaha shots on goal.
The Lancers are back in action this Friday evening when they head north to Fargo to open up a weekend series with the Force.
