Gamblers Streak to 14

...The Green Bay Gamblers continued their impressive run by winning a pair of road games over the weekend and extending their winning streak to 14. It is the longest win streak in the USHL since the Sioux Falls Stampede won 16 straight games during the 2005-06 season. The Gamblers have taken over the best record in the USHL (29-6-3) and have not lost a game since December 12th. Green Bay knocked off West Division leading Omaha 5-4 on Friday as Anders Lee recorded a hat trick and goaltender Steve Summerhays made 24 saves to earn his 15th consecutive victory. Lee has 10 points (6g, 4a) and a plus-10 rating over his last six games. Defenseman Nick Jensen recorded a USHL season high plus-six rating and added three points (1g, 2a) in the 7-4 win over Des Moines on Saturday. Ryan Furne netted two goals on Saturday and now has five goals over his past five games while posting a plus-11 rating during that span. Chris Crane also tallied two goals and now has 19 points (10g, 9a) through 30 games, which equals his point totals in 48 games last season.

Riders Shoot Them Out

...The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders won back-to-back shootout games over the weekend and pushed their winning streak to six games. The last three games for the RoughRiders have had a 3-2 final score. Jeff Costello and Sam Warning scored in regulation and the shootout in Friday's victory over Lincoln. Bryce Aneloski (1g, 1a) and Jayson Megna (1g, 1a) each had two points in Saturday's shootout win vs. Omaha. Michael Parks scored the deciding goal in the shootout that went seven rounds. Cason Hohmann has recorded eight points (2g, 6a) and a plus-seven rating during his four-game point streak while also converting a shootout goal on Saturday. Goaltender Cody Campbell won his fourth consecutive start making 34 saves and turning away 5-of-7 in the Saturday's shootout. Troy Grosenick won his third straight on Friday with 35 saves and stopping all four shootout attempts. That goaltending tandem has combined for a 1.30 GAA during the six-game win streak.

Homecoming for Team USA

...After playing nine straight USHL games on the road, Team USA played three games on home ice over the weekend. The Under-18 squad equaled a League season high in goals in Saturday's 10-2 victory over Waterloo as 14 different skaters registered a point. Brandon Saad notched a hat trick and defenseman Adam Clendening collected three points (1g, 2a). Austin Czarnik scored two goals in Sunday's 5-2 win over Indiana. He has a point in eight straight USHL contests including a goal in each of his last five games. Defenseman Derek Forbort recorded four points (1g, 3a) and a plus-five rating in the two weekend victories. Goaltender Andy Iles celebrated his 18th birthday by making 25 saves on Saturday for his fourth win in his last five USHL appearances.

Fargo's Sweet 16

...The Fargo Force have earned a standing's point in 16 straight games (13-0-3). Both weekend victories came on the road and the team is now tied for the USHL lead with 14 road victories, surpassing their total of 13 last season. Fargo scored a season best nine goals in their victory against Tri-City on Friday as 16 different skaters recorded a point. Defenseman Marek Hrbas scored the game-winner and now has five points (1g, 4a) over his last three games. Nate Condon netted a pair of goals and leads the team with 18 on the season. Nick Oliver scored the winner with just 45 seconds remaining in the third period during Saturday's 2-1 victory vs. Lincoln. Two of the three goals for Oliver this season have been game-winners. Chase Grant netted a goal in both weekend victories and now has 17 for the season.

Great Eights for Stampede

...The Sioux Falls Stampede completed a two-game sweep of Youngstown scoring eight goals in each contest. It was the third time in the past five games that Sioux Falls has scored eight goals. The team ranks second overall in the USHL averaging 4.00 goals per game. Anthony Day and Jacob Johnstone both scored a pair of goals on Friday while Matt Zarbo scored two, including the game-winner, then added his third goal of the weekend in Sunday's win. Defenseman Jamie Oleksiak tallied his first USHL goal on Friday and fellow blueliner Conor Allen tallied a goal in both contests. Matt Lindblad dished out four assists on Friday, and then collected two points (1g, 1a) on Sunday. All-Star Additions

...The Indiana Ice hosted the 2010 USHL All-Star Game as the East Division team won a thrilling 5-4 overtime game vs. the West. Four players who weren't on the original roster, but named as additions, were the ones making some of the biggest impressions. Indiana Ice defenseman Nick Bailen, named to the roster just four days earlier, scored the overtime winner in front of his home crowd. Des Moines Buccaneers forward Ryan Walters was a late addition, but made the most of the opportunity by recording just the fourth hat trick in USHL All-Star history on his way to being named MVP of the game. Tom Serratore of the Youngstown Phantoms netted a goal after being added to the roster a day before the game and goaltending replacement Troy Grosenick of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders was credited with the win after making 14 saves.
