Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

Lethbridge, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes have partnered with Canadian Tire and Global Television to give Hurricanes fans the chance to be part of a very special holiday tradition. The 13th Annual Canadian Tire/Global TV Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Hurricanes December 5th match up against the Red Deer Rebels. All fans are encouraged to bring along a stuffed toy donation to the game. When the Hurricanes tally their first goal of the night the teddy bears and stuffed toys will take to the skies of the ENMAX Centre as fans are encouraged to toss their stuffed toys onto the ice.

All stuffed toys collected will be donated to the Chinook Regional Hospital Pediatric Ward, the Salvation Army and various local charities. As a special offer, Canadian Tire will be offering a free ticket to the December 5th game with every purchase of a stuffed toy of $10 or greater value while supplies last.

Last season, Global TV, Canadian Tire and the Hurricanes shattered Calgary's 2006 CHL record of 15,540 bears thrown at the 12th annual Teddy Bear Toss on November 30th, 2007. On that evening, 5202 Hurricanes fans tossed a CHL record 21,905 stuffed toys onto the ice at the ENMAX Centre after an early goal by Colton Sceviour, just two and a half minutes into the first period. The evening would then be capped off with an 8-2 drubbing of the Saskatoon Blades.

All local charities interested in registering volunteers and accepting donations for this great cause are encouraged to contact the Hurricanes office via email with a background of their organization. Email your request to: admin@lethbridgehurricanes.com or contact Ryan Ohashi, Communications and Events coordinator in the Hurricanes office.
