Teddy Bear Toss Set for Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Checkers' annual Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Novant Health, will take place this Saturday, Dec. 6, during the 7 p.m. game against the Iowa Wild.
Fans are encouraged to bring new or like-new stuffed animals wrapped in plastic to throw onto the ice following the Checkers' first goal. Bears with breakable battery compartments should not be thrown.
On Dec. 17, Checkers players and staff members will deliver the collected animals to Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital. In the past four seasons, the Checkers have collected and donated more than 10,000 stuffed animals.
Other promotions taking place Saturday include the second annual Hockey and Heels, an exclusive event for women benefitting YWCA of the Carolinas, the making of holiday cards for troops presented by Imagemark, a Community Blood Center of the Carolinas blood drive and a Country Boy Landscaping toy collection.
