(Windsor, ON) - The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce a charitable commitment from Teachers Life as part of the club's MVP Program, through which the Jumpstart Student Nutrition Program Windsor-Essex received a donation of $1,000.

Teachers Life (www.TeachersLife.com) was founded by a group of Ontario Secondary School teachers and provides insurance services for its member educators across Canada.

President Doug Baker says it is important to take care of their own.

"The breakfast program goes to who we are, it's our DNA," said Baker. "Being associated with the Spitfires is a great opportunity for Teachers Life. Their commitment to excellence both on the ice and in the community fits well with what we stand for and what we're about. We couldn't be happier."

Spitfires forward Cristiano DiGiacinto says it's amazing to see the affect the program has on area students.

"It starts their day off with the nutrients they need," said DiGiacinto. "They're waking up, going to school and learning. They have young minds and need breakfast to get going. It's incredible that the schools around here are doing this for these kids."

Prior to the third period of this past Sunday's game versus Kingston, Spitfires Director of Corporate Partnerships and Premium Seating, Andrew Rowberry, presented a cheque for $1,000 to the Jumpstart Student Nutrition Program Windsor-Essex, on behalf of Teachers Life and the Windsor Spitfires Foundation.

Teachers Life and the Jumpstart Student Nutrition Program Windsor-Essex were also recognized in a feature video presented on the WFCU Centre's Jumbotron during an intermission break.
