Erie Otters News Release
A roller coaster of a game ended with the visiting Flint Firebirds prevailing 5-3 thanks to 41 saves by Kyle Keyser. The Erie Otters have now dropped three of their last four contests.
Ryan Moore started the scoring for the Firebird 15 minutes into the first period following a set up by Will Bitten. Minutes later Flint made it a two-goal lead when Dane Johnstone launched a one timer by Devin Williams. Less than a minute later Vili Saarijärvi nudged the Firebirds advantage to three with a blast from the point.
In the second period, Alex DeBrincat put the Otters on the board with a one timer from Darren Raddysh on the power play. Eight minutes into the second stanze Kyle Pettit potted the Otters second power play goal of the game off of a rebound. Seconds later Jake Marchment put a puck on net that bounced into the slot for Brett Neumann who pushed it into the net to tie the game at three. Later in the period Bitten buried a one timer past Williams to put Flint back on top.
The Otters attempted to make a push in the third period, however it was not enough as Moore notched an empty net goal to seal a 5-3 Firebirds victory.
The Otters will look to regain momentum in Guelph versus the Storm on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
