New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
Albuquerque, NM - Dec. 26 - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds (Tbirds) really came together as a team to break a five game losing streak to beat the NBA D-League reigning champs, the Idaho Stampede, who are now 8-4.
Player of the game, Will Conroy, was on fire with a total of 27 points and will surely remain the top scorer on the NBA D-League point's leader board.
"Our team finally got what they deserved, and played with great effort against the NBA D-League Champions," commented a happy coach Coffino.
The Idaho Stampede seemed to be chasing the Tbirds across the court, especially in the second half. Other Tbirds leaders include Jasper Johnson with nine rebounds, Will Conroy with eight assists, and David Noel with five steals. Once again five Tbirds scored 10 or more points during the game. They are David Monds, Cory Underwood, David Noel, Keith McLeod and Will Conroy, with 10, 11, 17, 21 and 27 respectively.
The Tbirds next game is on the road against the Anaheim Arsenal, tomorrow, Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 6:00pm PST. The Tbirds are home next on Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10, 2009 against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, who are 5-7 in the Southwestern Division.
