aylor Williams, a junior swimmer at Center Hill High school, has been named the Memphis Hustle High School Athlete of the Month, presented by Campbell Clinic. Williams won two Class II (5-6A) State Championships on October 27th in Tupelo, Miss.

Williams won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.24, defeating the next closest racer by over four full seconds. It wasn't even his best time in the event, having already set a state record in the breaststroke last year as a sophomore with a time of 56.84. Williams also won the 200-yard intermediate race with a time of 1:53.06 to earn his other state championship of the meet. His time in the 200 IM set a new state record, topping the old record of 1:54.24.

When asked about which of the two events he preferred, it wasn't hard for Williams to pick one. "The 100-yard breast[stroke]," said Williams. "It's my best event, and it just feels good in the water."

Despite being a junior, Taylor has already racked up five total State Championships in his prep career. He's also been ranked as the top swimmer nationally in his class in the 100-yard breaststroke. Williams isn't satisfied with his accomplishments so far, as he wants his success to carry over into the college ranks.

"I would like to go to a good [Division] I college," he said. "I want to make the NCAA [Swimming & Diving] Championships."

And as for the possibility of swimming in the Olympics?

"...Maybe!"
