Albany Firebirds News Release

Albany, N.Y. - The Albany Conquest today announced that WR/DB DeOnte Taylor has been named the recipient of the arenafootball2 Cutters Catch of the Week award. Taylor turned in a diving 31-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter from QB Ryan Vena against the Louisville Fire at Pepsi Arena's U.S. Army Field last Saturday night.

Taylor, 24, earned the weekly honor that has emerged this year to highlight the player who makes the best catch of the week. The Portland State alumnus also collected three total tackles on defense in the loss to Louisville after he caught his first touchdown of the season and added four tackles against the Fire back on May 20, 2006.

This marks the first time that Taylor has been honored with the Cutters Catch of the Week. He has 19 receptions for 213 yards with two touchdowns on offense, while ranking third on the Conquest defense with 30.5 tackles and three pass breakups in nine games.

Cutters is the innovator of performance grip material. Other gloves have attempted to meet their standards and may look similar, but they do not match their grip, durability, or overall performance.

Albany returns to action on Saturday night June 24, 2006 against the Spokane Shock in a 9:00 pm kick-off at Pepsi Arena's U.S. Army Field. The game will be broadcast live with play-by-play announcer Mike McCaffrey on 104.9 WZMR beginning with the CSEA pre-game show at 8:45pm.

The Albany Conquest are in their fifth anniversary arenafootball2 season with flex packages currently on sale. Individual game tickets for the 2006 campaign are also on sale now by calling the Albany Conquest offices at (518) 487-2244 or by visiting www.albanyconquest.com for more information.
