STOCKTON, Calif. * OL/DL Nick Vander Laan has been assigned to the Stockton Lightning by the arenafootball2 League Office, Lightning head coach Richard Davis announced today.
Vander Laan, 26, comes to the Lightning following a mini-camp workout with the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs, having previously enjoyed a decorated college basketball career at the University of California-Berkeley (NCAA), University of Virginia (NCAA), and Concordia University-Irvine (NAIA).
A 6-foot-9, 295-pound Sacramento native, Vander Laan is slated to make his professional football debut with the Lightning, joins the active roster for Saturday's game against the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings and will wear jersey number 88.
The Lightning return to play with a week 13 home game against the BattleWings on Saturday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. PT. The game can be heard live on the internet through www.stocktonlightning.com, courtesy of SportsJuice.com.
